Autosave & Preferences
LiteWork can automatically save your work at regular intervals, preventing data loss if your browser crashes, your internet drops, or you simply forget to click Save.
How Autosave Works
When enabled, LiteWork periodically saves your current document — including all line items, client details, and text fields — as a draft. Autosave runs silently in the background without interrupting your work.
📝 Note: Autosave creates a draft save. It does not finalise or send your document. You still need to manually save when you’re ready to commit your changes.
Configuration
Go to LiteWork Settings → Document Settings to configure autosave:
Enable/Disable
Toggle autosave on or off. It’s enabled by default.
Autosave Interval
Choose how frequently autosave runs:
| Interval | Best For |
|---|---|
| 2 minutes | Complex documents where every change matters |
| 5 minutes | General use (recommended default) |
| 10 minutes | Simple documents, fewer saves |
| 15 minutes | Light editing sessions |
| 30 minutes | Minimal saving frequency |
| 60 minutes | Longest interval available |
What Gets Saved
Autosave preserves everything in the current document state:
- Line items and amounts
- Client/contact selection
- Document text (descriptions, notes, terms)
- Sections and shipping details
When Autosave Doesn’t Run
- If no company is selected
- If your internet connection is down (autosave will resume when connectivity returns)
- If no document is open for editing
