Keyboard Shortcuts

LiteWork has keyboard shortcuts for the things you do most, so you can build and save documents without reaching for the mouse. On a Mac use Cmd; on Windows and Linux use Ctrl.

Essential Shortcuts

Action Shortcut
Save document Cmd/Ctrl + S
New document Cmd/Ctrl + N
Open the document manager Cmd/Ctrl + O
Add a line item Cmd/Ctrl + I
Add a section Cmd/Ctrl + G
Duplicate the focused item or section Cmd/Ctrl + D
Create a new revision Cmd/Ctrl + R
Download PDF Cmd/Ctrl + P
Open LiteWork Settings Cmd/Ctrl + ,
Close a dialog or popup Esc

📝 Note: Some browsers reserve Cmd/Ctrl + N for a new window and may open one instead. If that happens, use the New Document button.

Reordering items and sections

You can move things around without dragging. Put the cursor anywhere in a line item and press Alt + or Alt + to move that item up or down — it crosses section boundaries just like dragging would. With focus on a section header, the same keys move the whole section. (The line item’s menu also has Move up / Move down, and each section header has chevron buttons.)

Working in fields

Use Tab and Shift + Tab to move between fields, Enter to confirm, and Esc to cancel. Within a line item, Tab steps through Description → Quantity → Price → Discount.

Date fields

You can type a date straight in (DD/MM/YYYY), or focus the field and press to open the calendar. From there, the arrow keys move by day and week, Home/End jump to the start and end of the month, Page Up/Page Down change month, Enter picks the date, and Esc closes.

Autocomplete lists

In the description and client dropdowns, / highlight a suggestion, Enter applies it, and Esc closes the list.

💡 Tip: Shortcuts stay out of your way while you’re typing — they only fire when you’re not in a text field. They’re also paused during setup steps like company selection. Start with Save, New, and Add Item, and pick up the rest as they become habit.
