Xero Connection Troubleshooting

Solutions for common Xero connection problems.

Connection Expired

Xero connections expire every 60 days. If you see “Connection expired” or a yellow warning, go to LiteWork Settings → Xero Integration and click Reconnect. This only takes a few seconds.

Can’t Connect Initially

Check your Xero permissions: You need Standard User or Administrator access in Xero. Advisor or restricted users can’t authorize LiteWork.

Multiple organizations: If you have access to multiple Xero orgs, make sure you select the right one when authorizing. You can only connect to one organization at a time.

Pop-up blocked: Some browsers block the Xero authorization window. Allow pop-ups for litework.nz and try again.

Connection Drops Unexpectedly

If the connection was working and suddenly shows “Disconnected,” it may have been revoked from within Xero. Check Xero → Settings → Connected Apps to see if LiteWork is still authorized. If not, reconnect from LiteWork Settings.

Wrong Organization Connected

If you connected to the wrong Xero organization, disconnect first (LiteWork Settings → Xero Integration → Disconnect), then reconnect and select the correct organization during authorization.

Still Having Issues?

If none of these solutions work, email support@litework.nz with the error message you’re seeing.
