Canceling Your Subscription
You can cancel your LiteWork subscription at any time. This guide explains what happens when you cancel and how to do it.
Before You Cancel
Consider these alternatives:
- Downgrade instead — Switch to a lower plan if you need fewer features. See Managing Your Subscription.
- Pause if possible — Contact support@litework.nz if you need a temporary break.
- Export your data — Make sure you have copies of everything you need before canceling.
How to Cancel
- Go to LiteWork Settings → Billing
- Click Cancel Subscription
- Confirm you want to cancel
Only the organization Owner can cancel. Admins and other team members don’t have access to billing settings.
What Happens When You Cancel
Immediately
- Your subscription status changes to “Canceled”
- You keep full access until the end of your current billing period
- No further charges will be made
At the End of Your Billing Period
- Your account enters read-only mode
- You can view documents but not create or edit them
- Xero sync stops
- Team members lose editing access
After 90 Days
- Your data is permanently deleted
- This cannot be undone
Export your data before canceling. Once the 90-day retention period ends, your invoices, quotes, contacts, and settings are permanently deleted.
Exporting Your Data
Before canceling, export everything you need:
- Go to LiteWork Settings → Import/Export
- Export contacts to CSV
- Export documents to CSV
- Download individual invoices as PDF if needed
If you’re connected to Xero, your data also exists there and remains after you cancel LiteWork.
Refunds
When you cancel:
- Monthly billing — No refund; you keep access until the period ends
- Annual billing — No automatic refund for unused months
If you feel you deserve a refund due to special circumstances, contact support@litework.nz to discuss.
Reactivating After Cancellation
Before Your Billing Period Ends
Changed your mind? Go to LiteWork Settings → Billing and click Reactivate. Your subscription continues as if nothing happened.
After Read-Only Mode Starts
You can still reactivate within 90 days:
- Sign in to LiteWork
- Go to LiteWork Settings → Billing
- Choose a plan to resubscribe
- Full access is restored immediately
After 90 Days
Your data has been deleted. You can create a new account, but your previous invoices, quotes, and contacts are gone.
What Happens to Team Members
When the subscription ends:
- All team members lose access to the organization
- They’re not automatically notified—consider telling them
- If they have their own organizations, those are unaffected
Canceling During Trial
If you’re still in your free trial, you don’t need to cancel—the trial simply expires. You won’t be charged unless you actively subscribe.
To stop using LiteWork during a trial, just stop signing in. After 14 days (plus 7 days grace period), the account enters read-only mode automatically.
Deleting Your Account Entirely
Canceling your subscription is different from deleting your account:
- Cancel subscription — Stops billing, keeps data for 90 days
- Delete account — Removes everything immediately
To delete your account entirely (and immediately), contact support@litework.nz.
